Your recruiter will assess your eligibility, going over the basic requirements such as age, citizenship status, education, and physical fitness. If you meet the criteria, your recruiter will schedule your Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test and prepare you for the next steps in your journey to becoming a Soldier in the Montana Army National Guard. This meeting is an important step in setting the foundation for your military career.

Meet Your Recruiter

The ASVAB is a timed test designed to measure your skills and abilities in various areas, including math, science, word knowledge, and mechanical comprehension. Your scores on the ASVAB will help determine which Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) you qualify for in the Montana Army National Guard.
Your recruiter will schedule the ASVAB for you and provide guidance on how to prepare for the test. This is an important step, as your results will influence the career opportunities available to you in the Guard.

After completing your enlistment packet, your recruiter will schedule you a day to go to the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) for a physical exam and final processing. At MEPS, you’ll undergo a comprehensive medical evaluation to ensure you meet the physical requirements for service in the Montana Army National Guard.

In addition to the physical exam, you'll also take part in a series of interviews and background checks. Once you pass all the required tests and evaluations, you'll officially qualify for enlistment.

Enlisting

After passing your physical exam and completing all necessary paperwork, you'll officially take the Oath of Enlistment. This ceremony, known as swearing in, is a proud and significant moment where you pledge your commitment to defend the Constitution and serve your country and state as a member of the Montana Army National Guard. This is the moment you become a Soldier and begin your journey of service. From here, you’ll prepare for Basic Combat Training (BCT) and start your path toward a fulfilling career in the Guard.
